Water Safety with Kathleen O' Hanlon

In the summer term we were very lucky to have local swimming instructor Kathleen O' Hanlon visit the school to speak to the children about water safety especially as the summer holidays are fast approaching.

Lifebelts

On a visit to the sea-side we take for granted the beautiful place it can be but it can be very dangerous also. As Kathleen pointed out to the boys and girls, the seaside must be treated with respect and the rules of safety must be obeyed.

Some of the photos show how to use a lifebelt if someone gets in to difficulty when out swimming. It is also very, very important not to damage or tamper with a lifebelt as this would endanger the safety of swimmers.

Thanks

A big thank you to Kathleen for visiting us and for imparting all her wisdom and sound advice on staff and children alike.
