CLARA SCIENTISTS 2014

YOUNG SCIENTISTS OF THE SCIENCE WEEK 2014

From the 9th - 16th November the pupils and teachers of the school took part in the annual Science Week. This is a nationwide campaign to bring more awareness to the excitement of the subject of Science, if it wasn't exciting enough already!

The pupils took part in a wide range of activities exploring the many facets of this wonderful hands-on subject!

Everyone in the school got involved and while there was loads of fun to be had, there was a lot of learning going on too!

The pupils found out all about the power of pressure and the power of chemicals to name but a few.

There were exploding volcanoes, balloons showing how static electricity works and the experiment which shows how chemicals can bounce an egg and bend bone!

PATHWAY TO GREATER THINGS

The boys and girls showed a real interest and indeed love for this subject and it is well known that many brilliant ideas in Science come out of Ireland every year!

A lot of the boys and girls will hopefully go on and explore Science in secondary school and maybe even further afield.

Science Week therefore is aimed at firing the imagination for primary school children and indeed it did for the pupils of Clara NS in November 2014.

THANK YOU

As always, a huge thank you to the teachers, Mrs Halligan, Miss O'Hanlon and Miss McGowan for organising the week, organising the many experiments and most importantly guiding the pupils through the week.

The pupils said that it was the best week ever in school! I'll second that!
