First Holy Communion

On Saturday 20th May the boys and girls of 2nd class made their Holy Communion in Ballyoisin chapel. Congratulations to Mary Sherry, Ethan Treanor, Ciaran Meehan and Jane McDaid. They all had their part to play in the ceremony be that reading, singing , taking up gifts etc.

Miss O'Hanlon had the boys and girls very well prepared and it does take a lot of work in preparing the children for their big day. Thanks to Miss O'Hanlon for her diligence and flair!

The Music

Marina Mohan and the boys and girls of St. Patricks NS Clara provided the music for the ceremony and it was a treat to listen to! There were tin whistles, guitars and pianos as well as the beautiful voices of the children to compliment the music. The round of applause at the end of the ceremony was testament to the brilliance of the music. Thanks to everyone !!!

"Where I Would Like To Live!" Competition

Miss O'Hanlon's class took part in a super art competition recently where the children had to draw a picture of what type of area they would like to live in when they grow up.

The competition was a wonderful idea to promote a safe, friendly environment, anda pollution-free area for adults and children to grow up in.

Aisling McCartan

There were over three thousand entrants and our very own Aisling McCartan from 1st class was the runner up in the junior competition which was a brilliant achievement for both herself and the school. Aisling was invited to the Mansion House in Dublin for the prize-giving ceremony and along with Miss O'Hanlon, Aisling's mum Patricia and her little sister Maeve,  they had a fabulous day out in the capital!

A huge thank you to Miss O'Hanlon for inspiring such incredible artwork that so often takes place in her classroom! Well done everyone!!

FUN FRIENDS PROGRAMME 2016-2017

The children in Miss O'Hanlon's class have been taking part in the FUN FRIENDS programme. This is an excellent programme which focuses on the development of the childrens' well-being, promoting social and emotional skills that stay with the children for life!

FUN FRIENDS helps parents and children to learn valuable, coping skills together as a family in a FUN way!

The children love the lessons and they love the fact that the family have to partake in it too! Turn those RED thoughts into GREEN thoughts!

World Book Day 2017

The boys and girls had a chance to dress up as their favourite literary characters and boy what brilliant costumes! There were robots, Ironmen, Cinderellas and Little Red Riding Hoods to name but a few!

Inspire your Child!

This type of day is to inspire children to relate to books and in particular the characters in the books. The time spent with your child reading, is a special moment and should not be looked upon as the "just reading homework," scenario. Children love reading with their mums and dads, even moreso than us teachers believe it or not!

So take that time to sit and read with your child because you'll never get that time back folks!
